A Night of Reformation

NEW! Additional plans for a "Reformation Night" on the Scottish Covenanters are now available!

October 31st, 1517, was one of the turning-points in the history of the world. On that day Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses to the door of the Wittenburg Church, and with that deed the Protestant Reformation was born.

A Night of Reformation will help your church, homeschool support group or Christian school replace Halloween with an exciting celebration of Reformation Day. This 3-ring notebook includes complete plans for two different parties celebrating the life of reformer Martin Luther, one focusing on John Calvin, and one on Martin Bucer. We also give guidelines for researching and organizing additional parties recognizing the work of other reformers.

After studying and celebrating the Scottish Covenanters last year, we are now excited to offer a supplemental package with all the plans you need to have your own "Scottish Covenanter" Reformation night. This package includes plans for 11 new booths, including:

  • Help Jenny Geddes as she protests against the reading of "Laud’s Liturgy" in Edinburgh.
  • Join thousands of loyal Scots in signing the National Covenant.
  • Call together the Westminster Assembly, to set down guidelines for church reform.
  • Try to slip past the King’s dragoons and attend a secret worship meeting.
  • Protect your winter provisions and hide hunted Covenanters from the King’s soldiers.
  • Help record the last words of famous Scottish martyrs.
  • Learn about the heroes and villains of the Scottish Reformation.

The supplement contains 62 pages of plans plus a sample program. Pages come 3-hole punched to fit into your A Night of Reformation binder.

It's time to start planning your 2008 Reformation Night! Order A Night of Reformation before September 22 and receive the "Scottish Covenanter Supplement" for free!

Along with a script for a short play about Martin Luther, A Night of Reformation includes detailed instructions, illustrations, and materials lists for fun and creative group games, carnival booths, and craft projects that help to illustrate different aspects of each reformer's life.

Also offers suggestions for:

  • Refreshments and meal plans
  • Costumes
  • Talent shows
  • Period background music
  • Reformation hymns and psalms
  • Decorations
  • Contests
  • Student displays of Reformation art and writing projects
  • Books and magazines that families can read in preparation

Teach the history of the Protestant Reformation in a fun and memorable way. Help Martin Luther's future wife escape from her convent, encourage Calvin's friend Farel as he tosses the Catholic priests' relics into the river, assist Martin Bucer as he attempts to negotiate a peace between Ulrich Zwingli and Martin Luther. Costumes, games and booths, prizes, food, teaching, singing and fellowship -- our church's Reformation Party is one of the highlights of our year!
